Pool Wannabe

Believe it or not this "wannabe pool" was in the backyard of a house we looked at today.  Reminds me of the Clampett's ceeeeement pond except this was just a hole dug in the ground with a black rubber (?) liner that was "installed" in pieces.  And I think that the structure behind it was intended to be a Hawaiian style hut.  Hey, this house hunting stuff is an adventure.

Hope this gives you a chuckle!!

Sacrifice

American flags,nationalism,patriotic,stripes and stars,Veer Images,independence day,4th of july

Sacrifice … It’s what we are honoring this Memorial Day Weekend – the sacrifices others made to protect our land and our people.

Webster’s Dictionary defines sacrifice as “something given up or lost”; those who serve in our armed forces certainly sacrifice much in the way of family, time, money, career and oftentimes their personal well being in order to fulfill their calling.

This weekend is a reminder for all of us to  remember those who have served and those who are deployed now and to give thanks both to them for their willingness to do so and to God for preparing men and women to make this commitment.

God Bless America!

Getting Pretty

The appliances have arrived!  Yeah!  It's beginning to look like a real kitchen.  Jeff also worked on the backsplash ... pictures don't do it justice.  The accent tiles are gorgeous and sparkly -- adds just a bit of bling.  Someone is going to love cooking here.

Dishwasher and wine cooler ... it's chilled already and there will be a nice bottle of wine waiting for the new owner.

Backsplash tiles are not grouted yet ... we still have the spacers in place.

We're working on the cabinet doors and I'm looking forward to seeing them up with their new hardware.

More to come --

Blessings on your day,

Desert Demons

Springtime in the desert brings forth beautiful flowers  -- many of them just wild weeds that blossom profusely and color the harsh landscape with vibrant color.  Scorpion weed is one of these ... our yard blossomed forth with it and I noticed that when I pulled a few of them up my skin was quite itchy immediately so I stayed away from pulling any more.

My son who is busily at work remodeling the house we purchased developed a bright red rash with little blisters all over one foot and traveling up his leg.  Today he broke down and went to the doctor to see what was going on.  We all thought maybe he had a reaction to some of the paint and texture chemicals used in the remodel or the dust from that yucky grinding of the tile cement from the floors.  But no -- it's just a rash from the lowly Scorpion Weed.  So he's had steroid shot, has a prescription for steroid pills and a steroid cream to use to try to get rid of it.

Here is a site to read just a bit about this deadly beauty:

So pretty, but don't touch!

Lights, Fans, Granite

Yeah, the granite is in!  What a difference it makes in the "looking more like a kitchen" mode.  The color is just gorgeous with the floor tile and cabinet color.  We're doing oil rubbed bronze fixtures and a chocolate brown sink ... I'm liking this house more and more every day.  Have to be careful that I don't decide I want it for me!

Ignore the white baseboard at the bottom of the island ... it's turning to milk chocolate brown as we speak. I should have opened the door behind me for more light.  The old windows that are still in place have dark tinting on them which makes the rooms look dark.  They will be gone soon.

I'm not particularly fond of granite countertops but everybody wants them so that's what we're giving them.  This one has lots of pearl and metallic in it and is just perfect with the floors and cabinets so we lucked out.

Yummy chocolate sink and faucet ... and the wine frig is chilled just waiting for some goodies.  Hey, cabinet doors may not be on but we have to have our priorities right, don't you think!

And we keep on truckin'.

Hope you have a great weekend ... we're all working on the house tomorrow.

Blessings,

Pictures

Mother's Day ... I know it's a bit late but I've been busy.  Better late than never ... Ignore the flyaway hair -- Havasu is a windy, windy city!

My Gems

I am blessed to be the mother of two great young men, both of which now live close by.  Mark and Jeff, you are the gems of my life and I love you dearly.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there ... may you be as blessed as I am.

Feed the Spirit -- Dancing with God

Another gem sent to me by an internet friend --

"When I meditated on the word GUIDANCE I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word.  I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing.  When two people try to lead, nothing feels right.  The movement doesn't flow with the music, and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.  When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead, both bodies begin to flow with the music.

One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back or by pressing lightly in one direction or another.  It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully.  The dance takes surrender, willingness, and attentiveness from one person and gentle guidance and skill from the other.

My eyes drew back to the word GUIDANCE.  When I saw "G":  I thought of God, followed by "u" and "i".  "God", "u" and "i" dance."
God, you and I dance.

As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust that I would get guidance about my life.  Once again, I became willing to let God lead.

My prayer for you today is that God's blessings and mercies be upon you on this day and every day.  May you abide in God as God abides in you.  Dance together with God, trusting God to lead and to guide you through each season of your life.  And I hope you dance!"

My thanks to whoever originally penned this little piece ... it is filled with great wisdom.

Blessings,
