So off we went to see what he had found this time (he's always finding stuff on Craigslist and other places). Well, look what he found!
And, yep, it was a deal ... one too good to pass up. So we're the proud owners of a 1997 27-foot fifth wheel. We had talked a bit about Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05446699803419287037noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1077996082930811317.post-83585823610851618992013-12-31T09:22:00.000-08:002013-12-31T09:22:17.827-08:00A Blessed New Year ...It's that time of new beginnings once again ... time when we look back at the year just ending and look forward to the year just beginning. This has been a very difficult year for our little family. Our oldest son passed away suddenly in June.
It has been a trying time for me, my husband and our younger son but with the grace of God and love of each other we are making it throughAnnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05446699803419287037noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1077996082930811317.post-71791631073113490282013-11-24T09:32:00.001-08:002013-11-24T09:32:17.240-08:00Peace and SunshineNo words ... just pictures from the Corpus Christi Botanical Gardens ...

Last winter this is what happened to our neighbor's boatport (like carport only for boats?). That was a full metal roof mounted on those steel beams that are twisted. It was just a freaky burst of wind on a sunny, windy day.
We live on the high side of the street across from this Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05446699803419287037noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1077996082930811317.post-82868152080744593822013-10-31T15:44:00.000-07:002013-10-31T15:44:41.534-07:00HealingWhat a difficult period of time this has been ... learning to live without the presence of our precious older son. Even though I know his suffering is over and he is at peace, it is small compensation for my sense of loss and finality. We all know that death is final ... that there is no coming back to this particular time and place ... I believe that I will be with my son once again Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05446699803419287037noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1077996082930811317.post-87825286950661136902013-06-22T11:33:00.000-07:002013-06-22T11:33:34.223-07:00Home at Last ...

My heart is heavy this day
– our oldest son, Mark, passed away on Saturday, June 15th at the age of 43.
For those of you who don’t
know his story, his life was one of challenge and illness for over 30 years. He
was an amazing young man because he fought many battles that were never ending

I've been using this Martha Stewart paint for some other projects and like the way it comes out so used it here too.

Second coat and all done -- what a difference it makes to change the color of the frame.Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05446699803419287037noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1077996082930811317.post-21463022328887098292013-05-26T10:01:00.000-07:002013-05-26T10:01:16.088-07:00Peace and SunshineNo words ... just pictures ...

Those who served and sacrificed. And their families.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all involved that they will be comforted and strengthened in the days ahead. I especially pray for those families who have lost children; I cannot imagine their pain and distress.

Sometimes there are things that I really like but can no longer use and if possible I like to find another purpose for them. About ten years ago when we first moved off our sailboat and back into a house I found a wine cabinet that I gave to my husband for a gift. He was big into wine and wanted a place to store and display his bottles. This little cabinet fit the bill for all Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05446699803419287037noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1077996082930811317.post-84341119022796398582013-05-12T08:47:00.000-07:002013-05-12T08:47:16.778-07:00I am blessed ...On this Mother's Day I look back to remember my own mother who has been gone for over 40 years now. She left an indelible imprint on my life ... so many things I do automatically because Mama taught me to do so even after all these years.
Jump ahead 40 years and now my own sons tell me that many things they do in their lives are because that's how I taught them or how I always did things Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05446699803419287037noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1077996082930811317.post-7853785763631611452013-05-03T16:17:00.000-07:002013-05-03T16:17:54.014-07:00Woe is Me!Yikes! I'm sure somewhere Arizona is listed as the dry skin capitol of the world. We use lotions and creams by the gallon here. If you don't, you become a prune in no time. I've been blessed (?) with dry skin all my life so I am particularly diligent about "creaming up" every day.
We've had very high drying winds the last couple of weeks and my skin was Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05446699803419287037noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1077996082930811317.post-12174157849975148192013-05-01T10:19:00.000-07:002013-05-01T10:19:22.888-07:00Summer Is HereWelcome Summer ... ready or not ... here she is in Lake Havasu. We reached 100+ degrees this weekend. I think that's officially Summer ... it is in my book. The pool is open; the water is invigorating and the wind is still howling. We seem to sit in the path of the wind for every storm that goes through the country. And since my own heavy wood table did not fit in the new space, we sold it and kept the glass and metal set that was already there. The chair cushions were UGLY! And uninspiring, and bland, and faded, and whatever. I couldn't stand them.
Yep, pretty ugly ...

How quickly time passes! I've been away from my blog since last September. Life has a way of interfering with our best intentions. Our oldest son has been in and out of the hospital five times since October with an undiagnosed condition. Recently it seems to have subsided so I'm thinking I might be able to resume blogging again. Then -- on Monday my husband and son decided they wanted to do it themselves. Four days later after moving all our possessions in 110 degree heat (with humidity since it's monsoon season!), I'm not so sure they think it was such a good idea. We're doing a rather extensive job so it's taking a bit longer than we planned but we're loving the way it's turning out.

The kitchen floor is tiled as well --
The appliances have been moved back into place and are running.
And the washer and dryer are hooked up; now all I have to do is figure out how Annhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05446699803419287037noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1077996082930811317.post-90234580669149605202012-07-24T17:42:00.000-07:002012-07-24T17:42:46.778-07:00Hard WorkThe tile is going down ... this is how Jeff spends most of his day now ... on his knees and bent over ... backache city. Tile is looking good ... he'll be glad to get out of the kitchen area where there are so many cuts to be made. The rest of the house should be much easier, except maybe for the bathrooms.

Ah, summer in Havasu.
Fortunately, we were able to get the kitchen cabinet doors prepped and Jeff got them sprayed before the high humidity arrived so they dried quickly and nicely.
